My approach to psychotherapy comes from an evidenced-based dynamic and interpersonal framework, meaning that I strongly emphasize our relationship and our active collaboration in helping you reach your goals.
I believe much of the benefit of psychotherapy comes from our building an open and honest relationship where we can develop a mutual understanding and clarification of your concerns. I work to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your conscious concerns and be challenged to consider difficulties or patterns that are normally out of your awareness. I believe that many of our daily struggles and anxieties are influenced by our constant attempts to balance our individual and identity needs with our relational needs, and psychotherapy can be an excellent place to discover, clarify, and attend to those needs. Psychotherapy can be short-term, directed, with a specific goal to improve one piece of your life. It can also be long-term, exploratory, with complex goals to improve relationships, increase meaning in your life, and cope with the constantly changing demands of being a person in a complex world.
